No. Your commenting system will just be enhanced. Commentag helps you manage your comments.
Comments are still stored in your current database, only tags linked to those comments are stored in our own server. That means that if you decide to remove Commentag, you won't have to go through an export/import process to get all your comments back as they are already in you own database.
Even previous comments can benefit
from Commentag without any importation process.
Yes ! Our system allows Backward Compatibility, which means all comments you already have on your blog will be included in the system enhanced by Commentag.
Yes ! In fact, search engines won't even notice that you are using Commentag. They will crawl among your pages and they will see all comments as usual.
No, you won’t lose any comment.
At any time, Commentag offers you the possibility to downgrade to your
former commenting system, without losing any comment.
This is what we call Forward Compatibility
Yes. If our server happens to be down, the publishing will always be taken in charge by your normal commenting system so that no comment will ever be lost.
Right now it will not be taken into account when Commentag is up again, but this possibility will be added in the next version. In the future, a system will be added to avoid the server being down.
Right now the comment tagging is left to the commenter, so that the blogger doesn't have to tag every comment himself.
Soon, a module proposing tags automatically based on their content and previous tags will be added.
When someone puts a video on YouTUBE, that person is naturally going to put some tags. Because it is the only way to make sure that other people will eventually land on the video. A visitor who spends time to write a comment wants to share his opinion to as many people as possible.
If there are too many comments, his opinion will just be lost within that bulk of thoughts. To avoid that, it is in his interest to make sure that his comment is correctly tagged. That's the reason why you can expect your visitors to tag their own comments. However, you can always edit them as the administrator of your blog.
Besides, thanks to the CommentagPicker, it is very easy and very fast to insert tags. Just type the first letters and then hit tab and you're done!
Just publish a first comment with all tags you want other commenters to pick.
For example :
“In order to have a clear picture of what you think on this topic, please use one of these tags to define your comment. You can of course add others. It will also help other visitors to get directly to your comment.”
Tags: For SUV, Against SUV, ecological, I don't care, Car pollution is pointless, Let's act, Should think before acting, Stupid action, Cool action
Tags proposals are made based on all tags previously used within
the same discussion. So, to remove a tag, you have to remove it from
all previous comments.
The easiest way to do that is to log as an admin on your Wordpress blog,
click on the tag on the Tag Cloud you want to remove and for each comment
click on the list of tags to directly edit it.
You can always edit tags put by your visitors on their comments. To do so, first be sure to be logged as an admin on your Wordpress blog, then click on the list of tags of any comment to directly edit it. Once changed, hit enter, escape or click outside of the editing field and you’re done.
The plugin does not override the legacy add comment process. Therefore,
there is no way for a SPAM BOT to send you spam using Commentag. However,
Commentag is not a anti-spam either and therefore if you already get
spam on your blog, Commentag will not help you with that.
For that purpose, we can highly suggest you to use the Akismet plugin for Wordpress.
